JOIN A TEAM FOR THE WINTER COMPETITION
The winter season for hockey competitions runs from April to September each year, with breaks for the school holidays for junior teams. The Newtown City Hockey Club offers teams for all age groups and levels of experience.
Age limits for junior teams are taken at January 1 of the current year. All junior teams are mixed boys and girls.
Matches are played at Lloyd Reserve, Newtown on Saturday morning for:
- Joeys (U6)
- Under 8 (Minkey)
- Under 11
Matches are played at Stead Park, Corio on Saturday or Sunday morning for:
- Under 13
- Under 15
- Under 17
Senior Women – Division 1 and Division 2
Senior Men – Division 1 and Division 2.
Senior matches are played on Saturdays and Sundays at a variety of times, with most games being played at Stead Park, Corio.
The Club also offers a program for junior players who are unable to play on Saturday or Sunday. This is a more informal program, with games and teams organised on a ‘who turns up’ basis. It is suitable for boys and girls aged 8 to 12. A mouthguard and shinguards are required, but purchase of Club uniform is optional. Participants are expected to provide their own hockey stick, and these may be purchased from the Club.

Mixed Masters teams have lots of fun – great competition and friendly rivalry – with no sheep stations at stake. Games are played on half field with 7 players per team, providing a great opportunity for any player, experienced or not, to maintain some fitness and improve some skills.
HOCKEY IS EVEN MORE FUN IN THE SUMMER.
The summer season runs from October to March, with breaks for Christmas holidays. Summer hockey matches are played on half-field with 7 players per team, with most competitions played at Stead Park, Corio.
The Club has teams for:
Senior mixed – played on Wednesday, with matches between 6 to 9 pm.
Family mixed – played on Friday, with matches between 6.30 to 8.30 pm. Teams are a mixture of senior players, beginner or returning players and junior players.
U13, U15, U17 mixed teams – played on Monday and Tuesday, with matches between 5.30 to 8.30 p.m.
Under 11 mixed – played played on Monday 6 to 7 pm, with 7 players per team on 1/2 size field, at Geelong College, Claremont Ave, Newtown.
Under 8 mixed – played on Wednesday 6 to 7 pm, with 7 players per team on 1/4 size field, at Geelong College, Claremont Ave, Newtown.
