Newtown Hockey Club is looking forward to a fantastic 2024 season and we invite you to be a part of it.
Hockey is a game which provides great fun, teamwork, camaraderie and the opportunity to excel. It is also an inclusive sport, as players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy participating in this great game.
We hope to see all of our 2023 members and any past members back on the pitch. We welcome new members at any time of the year, regardless of previous experience or skill level.
Come and Try
New players are welcome to ‘Come and Try’ before committing to join a team.
Hookin2Hockey – Boys and girls aged 5 to 12 are invited to join a Hookin2Hockey program, which allows children to see if this is a sport they might like to try without any expensive initial outlay. It’s free to try at your first session with no commitment to continue.
The Hookin2Hockey program will be held at Lloyd Reserve, 80 Windsor Rd, Newtown, from 4.30 t0 5.30 pm on Tuesday March 5, 12, 19 and 26. More details here…….
Come & Try for 12 to 18 years
Join a free Come & Try session for boys and girls aged 12 to 18, from 6.00 to 7.00 pm on Tuesday March 5, 12 and 19 at Lloyd Reserve. Equipment is provided for use. More details here……
Join a Training Session
Pre-season training for our teams begins in March. New players (senior and junior) are welcome to join a training session to try it out. Equipment is available for loan. More details here….
2024 Winter Season
The 2024 winter hockey season for all teams will begin on April 20/ 21, 2024. There will be some casual matches for interested seniors on April 7/8 and 14/15. More details will be distributed about these when we know them.
Newtown Hockey Club has maintained its position as the largest hockey club in the Geelong region for many years, and we are aiming for further growth in 2024. We are especially looking for more players at U8 and U10 levels. We have teams and programs available for players from age 3 to 65+.
We expect to enter at least 18 teams in the Geelong Hockey Association competitions for the 2024 hockey season.
We will enter teams in all junior divisions of the Geelong Hockey Association competitions, from Under 8 to Under 17. The 2024 Under 8 and Under 10 competitions are available at both Stead Park and at Lloyd Reserve.
The 2023 competitions saw a thrilling Premiership for our Division 2 Women, with sudden death penalty strokes required to decide the winner. Runners up placings in U10, U12, U14 and U17 rounded out a very good year for the club.
So now it’s on to 2024. Come along with us for a fantastic year of hockey fun and friends!
