We are extremely pleased that the Lloyd Reserve Pavilion Project is the recipient of a Community Infrastructure Grant from the City of Greater Geelong, announced in the latest round of funding.
A grant of $340,000 has been awarded for Stage 1 of the project. The Lloyd Reserve Pavilion redevelopment is a joint project between the 3 co-tenants at Lloyd Reserve – Newtown City Hockey Club, Geelong Touch Football Association and Murgheboluc Cricket Club.
Stage 1 of the project is valued at $370,000, including $30,000 provided by the 3 clubs. Stage 1 provides for the construction of indoor toilets, improving safe access for members and visitors to the Lloyd Reserve pavilion.
The projected cost for the plan as a whole is $1.3 million, with the project constructed in 3 stages. Ultimately, completion of all stages of the project will provide a pavilion with female specific change rooms, increased social space, kitchen improvements and increased storage capacity. This would create a more user friendly space for members to gather and would assist in welcoming new members.
The current social space available in the Lloyd Reserve Pavilion limits the number of members and guests who can attend events and the type of functions we can provide. The social space will fit 40 to 50 people indoors. As our end of year presentations for the younger junior age groups often have 150 people in attendance, this means that children and families must remain outside during the function. And then we cross our fingers and hope for good weather.
The completion of the entire project will greatly expand the options for club functions which can be held at Lloyd Reserve, and will allow much greater social mixing between all members of the club and all sections of the club.
