The Newtown Hockey Club Family Fun Day for 2015 will provide some great entertainment and fun activities for the whole family, so bring everyone along.
With the 2015 season due to begin on March 28 for senior teams, the Family Fun Day is a chance to get the whole club family together and launch the season off to a great start with some free fun activities and games. The local community is also welcome – come and see what the Newtown Hockey Club has to offer, and why we were named Community Sporting Club of the Year in 2014. Bring your friends along too.
The Family Fun Day will be held from 12 noon to 3 pm on Sunday March 22, at Lloyd Reserve, Windsor Rd, Newtown.
For the kids, we have lined up Face Painting and the Jumping Castle, and the Castle is suitable for children up to 15 years, so don’t be shy – come and have a go. We have lots of games to play – with hockey skills challenges, races and general activities which are great for both kids and adults. Come and try out your skills in the ‘Beat the Keeper’ or ‘Penalty Stroke’ competitions, or see who has the longest hit in the Club. Challenge mum or dad to take you on at the mini-sports competitions, or just have some fun with the frisbee or soccer ball.
We have competitions, prizes and giveaways too, so don’t miss out! Come and join the family fun.
Sales of uniform and junior hockey equipment will also be on offer, so don’t miss this chance to get sorted before the season begins.
We have some delicious food and cold drinks lined up to keep our energy levels up – with the chicken skewers and BBQ running hot, lovely salads, and a gourmet lunch box. For afters, there’s some fantastic fruit salad or perhaps a cake from the cake stall.
Bring a rug or a chair and sit and enjoy the musical entertainment – provided by Kate Lineker and Lisa Hanley.
The feature match between The Legends vs The Young Guns is on again, with the winning team taking possession of the KLR Cup. The Young Guns will be out to show that they can match it with the Legends, after the inaugural win by the Legends team in 2014. The match proved to be very entertaining for the crowd of spectators last year, so we want to see some real enthusiasm from the supporters this year. If you have played more than 200 games (total junior and senior) for the Club, you are invited to be part of the Legends team. Players for both teams will need to put their name down early on the day to secure their place, as the match is scheduled for 1.30 pm.Feature event – the KLR cup
