The Midweek Junior Hockey Program commenced on July 14, and although the weather was not pleasant, it was great to see some keen hockey players arrive for the game.
The Midweek program aims to provide another opportunity for boys and girls to play hockey, with the game time scheduled on Tuesdays to avoid clashes with other weekend commitments.
The game started with all jumpers on in the cold weather, but play soon warmed up. There was some great running with the ball from Amelia and Cameron, with Seb staying wide and calling very well to his team mates. Great passing by Rory, who was looking for players leading to space.
The ‘Bibs’ team were well served by Gil and Kenna, running to space, and using some great back passes. They even got hot and had to take their jumpers off!! Tejai got into the action with some nice tackles, keeping his stick on the ground all the time.
Great covering of their opponents by both teams saw a close game, but the ‘Non-bibs’ team capitalised on through passes to the front of the goals to score a couple.
We look forward to the game next week – and hopefully to better weather.
