Players aged 9 to 16 at December 31, 2013 are invited to nominate for selection in the Western Metro Wildcats teams for the G.J. Gardner Homes Junior State Championships, July 1-4, 2014. The Western Metro Wildcats teams incorporate players from Hockey Geelong clubs, and from Werribee, Altona and Footscray Hockey Clubs.
Hockey Geelong will be represented in the Junior Country Championships with teams at U13, U15 and U17 levels, but selection for the Junior State Championships teams is through a series of selection trials, to be held on May 18.
The 2013 season saw 14 Newtown members selected in Wildcats teams from U13 to U17 age levels. With Hockey Victoria’s appointed Athlete Identification Officers in attendance, it would be great to see even more members take advantage of this opportunity in 2014. Nominations close on May 9.
