Relay for Life Cleanup

Relay for Life first began in the USA and is now a worldwide event, held in more than 20 countries, to remember community members affected by cancer, and raise money for research and prevention programs.
Relay for Life began in Australia in 1999, and is now run in every state and territory. These events raise over $14 million each year for the Cancer Council.

The 2014 Geelong Relay for Life  is on March 15 & 16, at the Geelong Showgrounds. Members of the Newtown City Hockey Club can do their bit to help by taking care of the rubbish management for the event. This involves emptying and moving rubbish bins, and picking up any loose rubbish.

Our efforts in this way help to raise funds for our ‘Future Facilities Fund’ as we are reimbursed for the time contributed by our members. We expect to raise about $450 from this venture.

Helpers are required for the following shifts:

Saturday March 15 – 6 to 9 pm – 3 people

Sunday March 16 – 9 am to 12 – 2 people

Sunday March 16 – 12 to 3 pm – 6 people

If you are able to help, we would love to hear from you.
