Hockey is a sport for the whole family, and Newtown City Hockey Club is a family friendly club which aims to provide an enjoyable experience for all its 300+ members.
We welcome players of any age and any ability. We are very pleased to show our game to people who have never played hockey before – and hope that you will find it as much fun as we do!
Many of our members began playing hockey in the Minkey (Under 8) teams, and have gone on to play at higher levels for regional teams such as the Western Wildcats, or for Victorian Country and Victorian State teams.

Cost: No charge
Equipment: We will have a hockey stick available for you to use for these sessions. You will need to wear shoes/ sneakers and comfortable clothing for running in. A mouthguard is great if you have one. (We are very careful about maintaining a safe environment, but it’s good to minimise any risks.) If you decide that you would like to buy your own hockey stick, we have some equipment available for sale.
Maybe one day we will have a member play for Australia—who knows, it could be you!
