The XIVth Australian Masters Games, held in Geelong, concluded on October 12 after a very busy and enjoyable week of hockey matches.
The Opening Ceremony on October 5 gave us the opportunity to see all the participating sports and some of the 8000 participants.
We even caught up with former member of the Club, Mark Beretta. Mark played a couple of seasons in his teen years.
It was great to meet teams from Melbourne and Central Victoria, as well as those who travelled from NSW, Albury, Cairns and Port Adelaide.
Congratulations to members of the Newtown Hockey Club who participated in the Hockey Geelong teams – 30+ Men, 30+ Women, 45+ Women and the Mixed teams.
Congratulations to all the players – a magnificent effort to play 6 to 10 games in 7 days – and all teams finished with a medal.
Well done Colleen, Peta, Kirsty, Deanne, Tracey, Kellie, Julie, Lauren, Claire.
Great work Meg, Bron, Edna, Peta, Jenny, Meredith, Claire, Jan, Hillary, Nicola.
Well done Rodan, Fitzy and Pete.
