Support Our Fundraising

 

The Club is administered by volunteers, with a Committee which works hard to keep membership fees at reasonable levels. The costs of competing in a team are covered by the fees paid by members. These include hire of grounds and synthetic facilities for training and matches, team entry fees, umpire payments, equipment, games badges, trophies and team photos, public liability insurance and administration. Additional fundraising ventures assist in the development of umpires and coaches and subsidise the costs to members who are selected in Regional and State teams. Improvement and development of playing facilities and buildings is also funded through the Club’s ongoing fundraising efforts.

  • Rebel Sport

    Use your Season Pass card in store at Rebel Sport and the club receives a credit each time you shop.

 

 

  • Entertainment Books

Buy an Entertainment Membership for Geelong or any of the available cities and the Club receives 20% of every membership sold. Entertainment memberships are available as a book or as a digital membership which can be shared with your family.

  • Denis Walter Carols by the Bay 

The Denis Walter Carols by the Bay are usually held in early December, and we anticipate that we will again have an opportunity to help the community and to raise funds for the Club, by cleaning up the area and picking up any rubbish on the morning after the concert. One hour each for 8 volunteers will get the job done.

  • Festival of Sails – Royal Geelong Yacht Club

The Festival of Sails is held each year during the Australia Day period in January. We have been pleased to assist in this venture for over 20 years by providing volunteer labour to keep the area clean and manage the disposal of rubbish. In return, we receive a payment from the Yacht Club. The venture usually involves over 80 volunteer shifts of 3 hours each. This is the major fundraising event for the Club for the year. 3 hours of time given by members removes the need to sell raffle tickets or chocolates.

Newtown Hockey Club strives to provide an enjoyable and supportive environment for all our members, and improving facilities and player development plays a key part in this.

The Club has a fundraising target of $5000 for the 2016 season. Funds raised are used to support these programs:

  • Development and training for umpires and coaches
  • Conduct of hockey clinics in local schools, assisting us to recruit new members
  • Subsidies for State and regional representative players
  • Preparation and improvement of the ground at Windsor Road, adjacent to Lloyd Reserve, thus allowing year round availability for hockey
  • Future development of facilities at Lloyd Reserve, including a synthetic pitch
