Joeys Hockey for Under 6 boys and girls is an ideal place to learn about hockey.
Hockey is a team sport which offers many benefits for children.
It’s a fun way to be active and learn skills, improve co-ordination and meet new friends. And it might be the start of a lifelong love affair with hockey. It might even be the first experience for a future Aussie hockey player – a Hockeyroo or a Kookaburra.
The Joeys hockey program is for boys and girls turning 4, 5 and 6. The program doesn’t include matches, but provides a way to learn the skills and strategies of hockey with small games and fun drills. Parental involvement is encouraged, and parents are often used as assistants in the games.
Hockey for Under 6 players is a good way to learn the skills without the structured rules of an official match. This provides a good foundation for future hockey participation, when players can progress to the next age group (Under 8) and play matches against other teams.
Equipment and Uniform
Hockey sticks are available for loan, or players may purchase their own equipment through the Club. Each player is issued with a tee-shirt so uniform is not required. Comfortable clothing suitable for running around in should be worn.
Children are welcome to come and try it out before making a commitment to join. If they enjoy it, then they can register and pay the appropriate fees.
