2014 Season Launch

Another hockey season is nearly here, and it looks like it’s going to be even better than 2013. We are expecting lots of new members, and some extra teams entered in the Hockey Geelong competition.

So what better excuse is there to get everyone together for a BBQ at our home ground?

Family fun

Join us on Sunday March 23, from 12 to 3 pm at King Lloyd Reserve, Windsor Rd, Newtown for free activities, fun and games.

We have great kids entertainment, plenty of food and drink to enjoy, as well as skills challenges, races, and general activities for the whole family. There will also be a chance to buy club uniform or junior equipment.

Feature event

The feature match will be The Legends vs The Young Guns at 1.30 pm. If you have played more than 200 games (total junior and senior) for the Club, you are invited to be part of the Legends team.

Players for both teams will need to put their name down early on the day to secure their place.

Over to you

All current members are encouraged to attend. We suggest bringing a rug or chairs and making a day of it.

The local community is also invited to come along to see what the Newtown City Hockey Club offers, so tell your friends, family and coworkers – the more the merrier!

Another Great Italian Night

The 2013 Italian Night at the Lloyd Reserve Pavilion on August 3 was a great social night.  We got to eat some delicious food, and mingle with fellow club members.   Great to see both our junior and senior players and families in attendance.

Thanks to Chris, Penny, Alana, Peter for their work in organising the night and preparing the food.

Thanks to Little Creatures Brewery for supplying the refreshments – the Pale Ale was enjoyed by many.  https://littlecreatures.com.au

Italian Night – Deliziosa!

The 2013 Italian Night on August 3 will again feature some delicious pasta dishes, so come along and sample them.  Chris Stuart makes the best lasagne that I’ve ever tasted – tell us whether you agree.

All teams are invited to attend.  Family and friends welcome – children too.  This is a great social night – a good time to mingle with your fellow club members.  Find out bit more about them off the field.

Stay with the Italian theme and wear something red, white or green.

Thanks to Chris Muggeridge and Little Creatures Brewery, now brewing in Geelong, we will also have some of their Pale Ale to enjoy.  Check out their website here

RSVP by July 27 to Chris or Claire.

Fun at the Trivia Night

The 2013 Trivia Night was another great night of fun and close competition. There were some great questions which had us all scratching our heads. Lucky there were some younger club members in attendance when the music questions were played. 15 seconds just wasn’t long enough for many of us to identify the songs in question.

The competition was close for the whole night, with just 6 points between the first and last team at the end of the night. The winners were “Jessie’s Team”, winning by just 1 point from “Lock It In”.

The coin toss yielded good results for Neil Mann – a great technique earned him a bottle of Baileys.

Thanks to Nardi Produce Pty Ltd for donating the raffle prize – a fantastic hamper of fruit and vegetables – which was almost bigger than the raffle winner, Bridie McGonigal.

Thanks to all who attended, and especially to the Stuart family for their work in preparing and presenting the evening.

Trivia Night 2013

The NCHC Trivia Night is an annual night of fun for all club members and friends. Featuring thought provoking questions from the club’s Brains Trust suitable for all ages and interests.

This year’s Trivia Night is expected to be a hotly contested competition once again, so gather your friends and family and join us May 25.

A great night for families, with some special questions for the younger participants.   Book your table of 8 or come along and join a table on the night.
