2020 Hockey Registration Day @ King Lloyd Reserve
Mar 1 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Hockey registration for the 2020 winter season is now open.

Newtown City Hockey Club invites current, past and future members to join us for another fantastic year of hockey. As the largest hockey club in Victoria outside the Melbourne Metropolitan area, we offer a wide range of opportunities for people to play hockey.

All registrations should be submitted by March 8. Early registration will allow us to enter appropriate teams for the 2020 season.

New Members Welcome

Anyone who would like to play hockey is welcome – regardless of age, experience or skill level. Anyone who registers will be given a place in a team. New members are welcome at any time. Come and see what the Newtown Hockey Club offers and try us out.

Beginner hockey players are welcome. Boys and girls aged 5 to 12 are welcome to join our Hook In 2 Hockey programme, without commitment. Adult beginners are invited to try our Saturday Social programme, providing a relaxed fun way to try hockey.

Completing Your Registration

You can complete your hockey Registration  online at home, or come along to our Registration Day and we will help you get it all done. Registration Day is the opportunity to try on and purchase uniform and equipment, and pay some or all of your fees.

Bring your stick to have a hit, and meet some prospective team mates. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a hockey stick – we can loan you one.

Never too young to play hockey

We would love to discover a future hockey star, who might one day be part of the Australian Hockeyroos or the Kookaburras teams.

Hockey is a game which men, women, boys and girls can play. Hookin2Hockey is a great way for children to find out about hockey and see what fun it is. The Hookin2Hockey program gives boys and girls aged 5 to 12 the opportunity to learn the basic skills, develop fundamental motor skills and make friends while beginning a lifelong love of hockey.

Come and join a Hookin2Hockey program. There is no commitment to continue – unless you really enjoy it. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played hockey before because the Hookin2Hockey program is aimed at beginners. We are happy to teach you some skills and show you what it’s all about.

Hockey is:

  • Having fun
  • Open to everyone
  • Co-operating with your team mates
  • Knowing the skills
  • Exciting and energetic
  • Young and old players

Hookin2HockeyA Hookin2Hockey program allows children to see if this is a sport they might like to continue playing, without any expensive initial outlay.  Come along to the first session to see what it’s all about, with no charge to participate.

You can register with Hockey Australia for the Hookin2Hockey program. For a fee of $89, you will receive your own hockey pack (stick, ball, shinguards, backpack) plus insurance cover for the period of the Hookin2Hockey program. If you have any questions, please contact us.

At the conclusion of the program, we can offer you a range of ways to participate if you would like to continue playing hockey – in both summer and winter seasons.

Australian Hockey Stars

Australia has a fantastic record in international hockey, with the national teams, the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos  currently ranked 2nd and 4th in the world.

Hookin2Hockey

Many of the Australian players began playing hockey in the younger age groups which Hookin2Hockey works with. It’s never too late to begin playing hockey, and almost never too early. We can provide the opportunity for children to begin learning about hockey from the age of 3.
