Come and Try

Hockey is a game which men, women, boys and girls can play. Hookin2Hockey is a great way for children to find out about hockey and see what fun it is. The Hookin2Hockey program gives boys and girls aged 5 to 12 the opportunity to learn the basic skills, develop fundamental motor skills and make friends while beginning a lifelong love of hockey.

Come and join a Hookin2Hockey program. There is no commitment to continue – unless you really enjoy it. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played hockey before because the Hookin2Hockey program is aimed at beginners. We are happy to teach you some skills and show you what it’s all about.

Hockey is:

  • Having fun
  • Open to everyone
  • Co-operating with your team mates
  • Knowing the skills
  • Exciting and energetic
  • Young and old players

Costs and equipment

Hookin2HockeyA Hookin2Hockey program allows children to see if this is a sport they might like to continue playing, without any expensive initial outlay.  Come along to your first session to see what it’s all about. The first session is free with no charge to participate.

After the first session, participants are asked to register with Hockey Australia for the remaining 5 sessions in the Hookin2Hockey program. The fee of $30 provides personal accident insurance until 31/12/21, and membership with Hockey Victoria for the 2021 year. This means that if you decide to join a team and continue playing, your Hockey Victoria membership is already covered.

Equipment will be provided for loan during the program. You may choose to purchase your own hockey pack (stick, ball, shinguards). If you have any questions, please contact us.

At the conclusion of the program, we can offer you a range of ways to participate if you would like to continue playing hockey – in both summer and winter seasons.

Hookin2Hockey

Many of the Australian players began playing hockey in the younger age groups which Hookin2Hockey works with. It’s never too late to begin playing hockey, and almost never too early. We can provide the opportunity for children to begin learning about hockey from the age of 3.
